WELCOME TO THE HOLIDAY COMFORTS CURDBOX!

WELCOME TO THE HOLIDAY COMFORTS CURDBOX

The holiday season is a time of warmth, connection, and the simple joys that bring comfort to our lives. Whether it’s the glow of twinkling lights, the laughter of family and friends, or the soothing flavors of comforting foods, this time of year has a magical way of wrapping us in its embrace. Food, in particular, plays a starring role in this season of comfort, with its power to evoke fond memories and create new traditions. Few foods embody this sense of coziness quite like cheese—whether melted into a gooey fondue, sliced on a festive charcuterie board, or baked into golden, flaky pastries. Cheese is the perfect companion to the holidays, offering indul- gent flavors and a comforting richness that pairs beautifully with winter’s chill. No matter which holiday you celebrate—or if you’re simply savoring the season’s spirit—there’s a slice, wedge, or wheel of comfort waiting to bring a little extra joy to your festivities.

So let’s take a look and see what we brought you in this month’s box...

Miticrema by Mitica

Miticrema, hailing from Spain's picturesque Murcia region, is a unique and luxurious sheep’s milk cheese crafted by Mitica. This creamy, spreadable delight stands out as the first and only sheep’s milk cream cheese produced in Spain, offering a delightful alternative to traditional cow’s or goat’s milk cheeses. Its pillowy texture and smooth consistency make it irresistibly soft, while the flavor is a harmonious blend of delicate tanginess, mild sheepy undertones, and a nutty-sweet finish. Made from the same rich and fatty milk that gives Manchego its signature depth, Miticrema highlights a sweeter, fresher profile, contrasting beautifully with the bold, herbaceous notes of aged Manchego. Often likened to the French Fromage Blanc, this dense and complex cheese exemplifies the richness and versatility of sheep’s milk, delivering a unique, refined experience rooted in Spanish cheesemaking traditions.

Caña de Cabra by Mitica

Caña de Cabra, a soft-ripened goat cheese from Mitica, showcases the exceptional quality of Murcia’s famed goat’s milk. Made from the rich milk of Murciana goats that graze on the region’s lush pastures, this cheese captures the essence of its Spanish terroir. Encased in a thick, white bloomy rind, its interior is dense, velvety, and delightfully fudge-like, offering a luxurious texture. The flavor is mild and balanced, with buttery and savory notes complemented by a bright citrusy tang. Reminiscent of French Bucheron, Caña de Cabra is a true testament to Murcia’s cheesemaking heritage, blending creaminess, elegance, and subtle complexity in every bite.

Truffle Brie by Point Reyes

Truffle Brie by Point Reyes cheesemakers in California is an exceptional fusion of Californian craftsmanship and Italian indulgence. This luxurious cheese pairs the silky smoothness of Brie with the earthy elegance of black summer truffles sourced from the Sabatino family in Umbria, Italy. The truffles, milder and more nuanced than their winter counterparts, infuse the cheese with a refined, subtly aromatic character that perfectly complements its rich, cream-filled texture. The rind is a masterpiece of its own—smooth, creamy, and imbued with just the right amount of earthy depth, enhancing the complexity of every bite. Truffle Brie is a testament to Point Reyes’ dedication to producing artisanal cheeses that balance decadence with an approachable, harmonious flavor profile.

The Truffle Brie by Point Reyes and the Greek Honey from Mitica

And here are the pairing items that go along with these amazing cheeses…

Fig Crackers by The Fine Cheese Co.

These Fig Crackers by The Fine Cheese Co. in Bath, England, are thoughtfully crafted to complement, not overpower, the finest cheeses. Infused with fig, honey, and extra virgin olive oil, these crackers balance subtle sweetness with a delicate crunch, enhancing the cheese's natural flavors. Founded by Ann-Marie Dyas, a champion of traditional cheesemaking and a judge at the British and World Cheese Awards, The Fine Cheese Co. has a storied history of celebrating and preserving artisanal cheese. Their passion for handmade cheeses inspired the creation of this elegant line of pairing items, ensuring every bite is a harmonious blend of texture and taste.

Greek Honey by Divina

Mitica’s Greek Honey is a rich, flavorful honey that captures the essence of Greece’s diverse wild flora. Gathered by bees from the wild flora of Greece’s countryside—including thyme, pine, heather, and fir, the honey reflects the unique character of each region, influenced by local plants and climate. Known throughout the Mediterranean for its deep amber color, intense floral aroma, and full-bodied flavor, Greek honey stands out for its richness and thicker consistency. With less humidity than honey from other regions, it has a denser, more aromatic quality. Greece’s long history of beekeeping and its high concentration of beehives per acre contribute to the country’s reputation for producing exceptional honey, earning Greece 29 awards at the 2023 London Honey Awards.

Spiced Plum Jam by Blake Hill

Blake Hill Preserves’ Spice Plum Preserves is a masterful creation born from a collaboration with the award-winning cheesemakers at Jasper Hill Farm. Handcrafted in Blake Hill’s artisanal kitchen in Windsor, Vermont, this luxurious preserve marries the bold, juicy sweetness of slow-simmered plums with the warmth of raisins, the crisp acidity of heirloom apples, and the richness of a vintage ruby port. A delicate touch of star anise adds an aromatic depth, creating a flavor profile that is both sophisticated and comforting. Known for their commitment to clean ingredients and bold flavors, Blake Hill has crafted preserves that embody elegance and balance, making it a true testament to their artisanal expertise.

And with that... we wrap up this month’s box.

So this season, let cheese bring an extra touch of warmth and comfort to your celebrations—whatever they may be.

We’ll see you next month.
